A Tree for the Centenary

Members of Girlguiding Cheshire Border went to Congleton Park during February half term to plant a tree. This was a way of commemorating Girlguiding UK’s Centenary and the Launch Party, Starburst, which was held in Congleton Park. It was also a way of saying thank you to the park staff and the Friends of Congleton Park for all the help given to the Starburst organisers both during the months of planning and on the day of the event.

Planting a tree in the park seemed appropriate as the park is in the process of replacing trees and local girls had been asked by the County to do the job. Two Brownies, Sophie Baker and Ella West, 1st Mossley Brownies, were joined by Rainbow Jorgia Finch and leader Michelle Astbury from 1st Congleton Trinity Methodist Rainbows. It is hoped that the tree, which is a lime tree, will grow to full maturity and give pleasure for many years to come.
