Queen's Guide Award

clipQueensGuide.gif
The Queen's Guide Award is the highest award that can be earned in the Guide movement and is open to girls aged 16-25. It involves completing a series of challenges within three years and is generally regarded as one of the toughest awards to earn. However, it also opens doors to exciting opportunities and is well-respected by potential employers. The new Queen's Guide Award syllabus also fits well with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, so you needn’t have to make a choice over which award programme to follow.

What is the Queen's Guide Award?

The challenges fall into the following 5 categories:

  • Service in Guiding
  • Outdoor challenge
  • Personal skill development
  • Community action
  • Residential experience

Where can I find out more about the Award?

For full details about the Award, including the syllabus which is available to download free, please visit the Queen's Guide Award pages on the Girlguiding UK website (please note that if not already registered, you will need to register with Girlguiding UK to access the content). This can be accessed via the following link:

Cheshire Border's Roll of Honour (current scheme only)

  • Suzie Oulton
  • Helen Webster (2004) - 'I really enjoyed working on my Queen’s Guide Award. It enabled me to try lots of new challenges and to explore different parts of Guiding, which I had not previously considered – or felt that I would be ready for. I gave it a go – and I succeeded!
I feel that this award has helped me to achieve lots, both on a Guiding level, as well as a personal level. It has also been a great talking point during recent Job interviews.
Having completed the Award I was lucky enough to be able to meet Sophie, Countess of Wessex, at the award ceremony in London, which was a once in a lifetime opportunity'.

Personal message from the Cheshire Border Queen's Guide Adviser

Hi, my name is Emma and I’m the Queen's Guide Adviser here at Cheshire Border. Firstly, let me thank you for taking the time to look at our page – I hope that you find it interesting and helpful.

As Queen's Guide Adviser, it’s my job to ensure that all of the girls enrolled in the Queen's Guide Award Scheme within Cheshire Border not only get all the help they need to complete the Award, but also that they get the most out of the Award they can as an individual.

No two people’s Queen's Guide Award experiences are the same; like with most things in life, the more you put into completing the Award, the more enjoyment, sense of achievement and satisfaction you will get out of it. And I’m speaking from personal experience here – I have completed the Award myself so will have some idea of what your facing if you decide to take up the Queen's Guide Award challenge!
