What do Brownies do?
Most Brownie Units meet weekly. At the meetings, Brownies do lots of fun things like crafts, games, baking and much more. Brownies do some of these activities as one big group, some on their own, and some in small groups called sixes. Brownies like to try new things, take part in challenges and find out about what Brownies all over the world like to do. There are also books called Becoming a Brownie, Brownie Adventure and Adventure On that have lots more fun activities and challenges for the girls to try. Many Brownies have their own copies so that they can have fun at home. Brownies even help their leaders to decide what activities they would like to do, so you can sure that everyone will have fun at Brownies.

What do Brownies wear?
Girls wear a uniform which includes lots of cool and fun clothing. The Brownie Promise
Brownies make a special promise at a Promise celebration which they can help to plan. It might be in a meeting, at a special Promise party, you could make your Promise outside, or on Brownie holiday.
To love my God
To serve the Queen and my country
To help other people
And to keep the Brownie Guide Law
The Brownie Guide Law is:
A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.
All Brownies must make sure that they try to keep the Promise every day, and the Brownie leaders help them to do this. For example, if they’re not sure how to help other people, how about:
- Helping her Mum by keeping her bedroom tidy
- Picking up toys that her baby sister or brother has dropped?
Sometimes they can be helpful in bigger ways, for example by:
- Putting on a pantomime to raise money for people who have lost their homes, maybe after an earthquake or flood
- Helping our local environment trusts to have a big tidy up of the village or town they live in
- Some Brownies help to plant bulbs in their local park so that each Spring there are lovely flowers for everyone to enjoy.
All of these things are activities that Brownies in Cheshire Border have done recently, but not only is it nice to help people in these ways, it’s usually lots of fun and laughs too!
It’s your choice!
Brownies can also choose to work towards interest badges. There are lots of these covering all sorts of different things so there’s sure to be something for everyone. These are just a few of the interest badges which you could try:
Horserider, Swimmer, Toymaker, Entertainer, Hostess, World Cultures,

Brownie Holiday
Some Brownie packs go away on Brownie Holiday. They usually go to a special Brownie Holiday house (there are even several of these in Cheshire!) where they can spend a weekend, or even longer, having lots of fun and adventures with their Brownie friends.Read about Broken Cross District Brownie Pack Holiday at Alsager Guide Hall.
