Global conversations - 2012 Olympics
Have you looked at the 'On your Marks' resource and the 'Celebrate' toolkit designed to give local guiding ideas on how they can get together in 2012?
There is also another very exciting international project called Global Conversations.
It's a chance for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world to get involved in London 2012, and to find out about each other's culture and values, from Feb - Sept 2012. Focused around a blog site, ideas and discussion topics will be posted each month for members to chat about in their units and feed back their thoughts, which will then be put up as blog entries. Members will comment on blog entries and interact with each other's posts.
Younger members will also be able to follow the progress of a mascot, who'll be sent around the world meeting Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, and blog about her adventures.
The conversations will begin on 22 February, with the subject linked to the environment theme of World Thinking Day.
GET INVOLVED NOW BY:
Registering your interest to host the Mascot - email their name and address to programme@girlguiding.org.uk with 'Mascot' as the subject and you will go on the list.
Sign up to the Front Runners mailing list and encourage others to do so too. You'll receive an email once a month with information about Global conversations and the other Olympics projects. Email programme@girlguiding.org.uk with 'Front Runners' as the subject.

The Girlguiding UK INTOPs selection event will take place at Guys Farm. If you are interested in going for GOLD projects in the next couple of years then you need to register your interest by emailing intops@girlguiding.org.uk. Places fill early so please act quickly. Girlguiding UK allots a certain number of places at the event to each Region, with more places being allotted to the host County, so this is a great opportunity to get more young women from the North West onto GOLD Projects.

Together we can
In early 2011 an exciting new activity pack was brought out for all sections, based around the UN’s 8 Millennium Development Goals. These goals were agreed in 2000, and will be reviewed in 2015, with the main aim of solving poverty and hunger worldwide. We can all do our part to bring the world nearer to reaching the goals.
Together we can will give girls and young women a clear understanding of the goals and how they can be achieved through engaging activities and ways to take action. There will be a badge available for each section.
Together we can covers some very important, but sometimes difficult subjects. There will be training offered to those who would like support or to simply find out more about the resource and what it’s about. There will be two training days held, one at CHQ and another in a location in the North of England, yet to be decided. If you are interested in attending one of these sessions, please email programme@girlguiding.org.uk
Trainers will be given priority for training places, so they can conduct training for Leaders in their areas.
