Off to Uni or Moved Away?

So you are off to University or college and there will be loads of exciting challenges to face there and new friends to meet. We hope some of the skills you have developed in Guiding will support you whilst you are away.

You may consider joining the university’s joint Scout and Guide group – if they don’t have one you could always get one going! Some other clubs to look out for are Link or The Student Scout and Guide Clubs. There is often a Duke of Edinburgh's Award group as well.

Once you have settled in you might even volunteer to help with a Rainbow/Brownie/Guide unit in your new town. Many past Young Leaders have given wonderful service to many inner city units whilst they have been away at uni and made lots of new friends that way.

You may have moved away from Cheshire Border - a new job or family moving house. Do let us know about your latest involements with guiding.

If the BBC documentary makes you feel nostalgic, keep checking the Guides Reconnected website to see if more of your guiding friends past and present have joined. They are getting new members in every day, so make sure you have created a group for your old units and see if you can find your guiding friends.

You have given guiding in Cheshire Border wonderful support over the years and we will miss you. You now have the chance to let others know what a great guiding county we are.

What ever you do – good luck with it – but remember to stay in touch with us as we want to know how you are getting on and to be able to include you in invites to guiding events back here at home.

Had to give up your unit?

Please keep in touch with us, we would love to see you again. When the time is right you may even like to help with a unit again.

There are other ways of helping guiding besides helping in a unit weekly. You may have a skill which you could share on an occasional basis.

Have you heard of the 12 hour challenge?

The local Trefoil Guild probably meets once a month and would welcome new members. Did you enjoy campfire singing? – the campfire circle meets monthly. Do find out more.

You can log on monthly to read Border Lines to find out what we have been up to.
