Are you between 14 and 25? You are? Then you are a member of the Senior Section.
Now that doesn’t mean a “pensioner” or a “Senior Citizen” or an ancient Guide Leader!

Who are Senior Section?
Senior Section is for Girlguiding members who are aged between 14 and 25. You do not have to have been a Rainbow, Brownie or Guide to join.

Cheshire Border has always had a very active Senior Section taking part in many activities. Young Leaders help in Rainbow, Brownie or Guide units. Members of the Senior Section whether they are Rangers, Young Leaders, or other specialist groups take part in individual, unit and county activities. If you name it, they have tried it!

What do Senior Section members do?
You have your own programme and can set your own goals. In fact it’s the one section in Guiding where you really are your own boss. It’s good to work in a group but you can also be a Lone Member.

It’s Your Choice
The Look Wider Programme is for anyone in the Senior Section aged between 14 and 25 - that means Guiders, Young Leaders, Rangers, those working on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Queen’s Guide Award, GOLD participants, members of LINK and SSAGO and anyone else wishing to be part of guiding.
Our programme is being up dated and re launched in the autumn.

Making the Promise
Senior Section members are not obliged to make a Promise immediately. However most people agree that making a Promise shows commitment. You can make this commitment at any time,( when you choose to) in any place, with anybody. Senior Section life is up to you to make it your own.

The Senior Section in Cheshire Border

During 2006 a variety of specialised activities were organised by the County just for Senior Section, including several activities on a Survival theme. The first of these was:

Bushcraft Survival……… making shelters, living outdoors and foraging. That is after members were kidnapped, and blindfolded and taken to a secret location!

Following this successful survival weekend last year, Senior section members then took part in City Survival which took place in London. The next stage will be an International Survival ...
