Thirteen of us met in November to walk part of the Biddulph Valley Way along the disused railway line and later to take a loop alongside the Macclesfield Canal re-joining the Way at a later stage to go back to base.
Dorothy Dentith and Dorothy Robinson shared points of local interest such as the carrying of coal between the Potteries and Congleton with the trucks returning with sand to The Potteries for over 100 years. There was a beautiful autumn tinted tree-lined walk as we approached Dane- in -Shaw Pasture and we stopped to admire the impressive railway viaduct.
Louise Smith joined us for a good lunch at the Garden centre and surprised Sue Orth by presenting her with her GOLD Voyage Award.
We meet on Thursday 24 January 2019 at 10.30 am in the car park at Quarry Bank, Styal, Wilmslow SK9 4LA. Lunch will be in the café at 1pm.
