Eleven strollers began the year with a walk which deviated from the usual type of walk as Sue Orth had kindly arranged for us to be shown the newly opened 13, Oak Cottage at Quarry Bank, Styal.
It was fascinating to see the dwellings of the occupants who were tenants working on the Estate. Life was austere yet the village offered to all who worked in the mill or on the land many advantages over those living in tenant houses for the Manchester Mills.
Snowdrops, early daffodils and hellibores were seen as we walked through the grounds for a good lunch at the Mill restaurant.
We meet again Thursday 28 February 2019 for coffee in St. Mary’s Church Hall, Sandbach CW11 1HD at 10.30 am before walking The Sandbach Town Trail.
Lunch will be at The Bear’s Head, Newcastle Road South, Brereton CW11 1RS.
Our next meeting is Monday 14 January 2019, 2.00 pm at the New Life Church in Congleton
The next meeting will be Monday 4 February at the New Life Church in Congleton at 2pm.
